Coffee in Serbia and the region is a culture, rather than a drink. When you are told “Let’s go for coffee”, it means “let’s meet” and have whatever you like drinking. Serbian coffee is prepared in a very similar way like Turkish or Greek coffee, but without use of any spices. A good coffee will have a bit of foam on the top, otherwise it is considered thin and not very welcoming. Though not many young people favours it these days, it is still the most common coffee to have when you are hosted in a local’s house.
